Store and Market Updates 5/17/26
Share
Good afternoon folks! Welcome to the first blog post where I will share updates with the store and what I'm seeing in the market. Sort of a changelog and peek behind the curtain so to speak.
Change Log -
Loyalty Program Changes
- You can now combine and stack loyalty rewards.
- You can use up to 1000 points at a time for the "Choose your discount" reward.
- Redeemed loyalty rewards now expire after 90 days if unused.
- Points now expire after 6 months of inactivity.
- Added expiry policy: If the Loyalty program does end, there will be a 90 day notice sent out to use your points before then.
Store Changes
- Sealed Decks page has been removed. I may revisit carrying Commander Decks in the future.
- Added the Blog page to keep up on the change log and general communication to customers.
- Added newer sets to the store with more restocks to come.
- I will be adding premade chaos packs as an option for purchase. These will be for an individual, 4, 6, or 8 people.
- Added remaining stock indicator for all products.
Everything Else!
I want to start by admitting that I haven’t been the best at keeping up with store updates lately. Orders still go out the same day around 90% of the time, with next-day shipping at the latest, but I’ve recently been working on getting everything back on track. For a while, the store has mostly been running on autopilot — but I’m back at the helm.
Magic is in a strange place right now, at least from where I sit. With all the Universes Beyond sets and the growing focus on endless card treatments, I find myself becoming more and more of a “Magic boomer.” Even though I only started playing in 2012, I still miss the days of cracking packs and simply hoping to pull a foil. That said, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t enjoy some of the modern treatments too. I can adapt with the times. The harder pill to swallow, though, is the pricing of new product.
Wizards of the Coast seems determined to increase margins wherever possible. I think most players can agree that going from 36-pack draft boxes to 36-pack Play boxes, and now to 30-pack Play boxes, feels pretty bad — especially while prices continue to climb on a per-pack basis.
That’s a big part of why I started CRG Games in the first place: to keep the fun of cracking packs affordable. When a 30-pack box can cost $150 or more, sometimes only a few packs fit the budget. Or maybe you just need a handful of packs for a Chaos Draft with friends. That’s where I hope CRG Games can help.
I’ll probably keep this store going for as long as I enjoy Magic, and judging by the number of times I’ve sold and rebuilt my collection over the years, that may end up being forever. I typically won’t have brand-new sets immediately at launch, though. Distributors stopped accepting new online stores right around the time I started CRG Games, so getting sealed product directly has been difficult. Hunting down out-of-print sets, however, is one of my favorite parts of running the store. I love finding great deals and passing those savings along to the community.
I’m also incredibly grateful for everyone who has supported CRG Games over the years through purchases, YouTube views, or simply stopping by the site. Getting the YouTube channel active again is another thing I’m working on improving.
I’ll wrap it up here before this turns into even more rambling.
TL;DR: I’m working on restocking both old and new products while keeping the store and YouTube channel updated more consistently.
