October Store Update: Giveaway, Store Trends, and What’s Ahead
October is here, and as always, I’m continuing to expand the booster pack selection whenever I can. This month also brings a new giveaway, an update on the Chaos Draft Pack project, some interesting sales trends from September, and a reminder that we're always interested in buying sealed Magic product.
October Giveaway — SDCC 2019 Dragon’s Endgame Set
For October, I’ll be giving away an SDCC 2019 Exclusive Dragon’s Endgame Set.

This is a relatively rare promotional product containing five cards:
- God-Eternal Bontu
- God-Eternal Kefnet
- God-Eternal Rhonas
- God-Eternal Oketra
- Nicol Bolas, Dragon-God
The giveaway rules are as follows:
No purchase necessary. Each eligible order placed during the promotional period earns one entry, with a maximum of five purchase-based entries per person.
One free entry per person is also available by emailing crggamesllc@gmail.com with “October Giveaway Entry” in the subject line and name, city and zip code in the body.
Odds of winning depend on the total number of eligible entries received. The prize will be shipped to the winner at no cost.
I’ll conduct the drawing after the promotion ends and plan to record the selection for the CRG Games YouTube channel.
Chaos Draft Pack Update
The Chaos Draft Pack project is on hold for the time being while I continue weighing packaging options.
I now have small shipping boxes that work very well for pre-made Chaos Draft Packs. They’re inexpensive, practical, and should hold up well during shipping. The downside is that they aren’t particularly attractive and don’t offer the custom-printed presentation I originally had in mind.
That leaves me trying to find the right balance.
The primary goal of the Chaos Draft Pack has always been to offer a budget-friendly, pre-made draft experience. Spending significantly more on custom packaging works against that goal, even if it makes the finished product look better.
So for now, I’m taking a little more time to decide where that balance between cost and presentation should fall.
September Sales — What Were People Buying?
It’s stats time.
I enjoy tracking trends in the Magic market, and store sales provide an interesting little window into what players and collectors are actually buying.
During September, the five best-selling booster packs at CRG Games were:
- Edge of Eternities Play Boosters
- Final Fantasy Play Boosters
- Bloomburrow Play Boosters
- The Lost Caverns of Ixalan Play Boosters
- Kaldheim Set Boosters

Edge of Eternities Continues to Stand Out
Edge of Eternities is a fantastic set.
Admittedly, I’m a bit of a nerd when it comes to space, but the flavor of the set is hard to argue with. That appeal seems to be reflected in demand, particularly recently.
It’s also hard to believe how quickly the release calendar moves. Sets have such a short period in the spotlight before the next release arrives that even relatively recent products can start feeling older almost immediately. It's downright criminal!
My goal is to continue building up my Edge of Eternities inventory so I can offer it for a long time to come at a reasonable price.
On the Other End of the Spectrum…
Not every set gets the same attention.

Dark Ascension gets a pass because I only recently added it to the store, but Lorwyn Eclipsed hasn’t received much attention so far.
I personally enjoy the set, but it feels somewhat out of place in the current Magic environment. With Universes Beyond playing such a major role today, Lorwyn felt more like a brief nostalgic return than something that defines the direction of the game.
For players who have been around for 20 years or more, that nostalgia probably hits differently. It certainly does for me.
For that reason, I’m not convinced Wizards is going to lean heavily into repeated returns to older planes in the years ahead — the increasingly complicated “Return to Return to Return to…” model.
I hope I’m wrong.
The lower-selling chart in the draft makes the contrast with the top sellers pretty clear.
Buying Sealed Magic Product
Sourcing, negotiating, and buying out-of-print Magic products can be a hassle, but it’s also one of my favorite parts of running CRG Games.
That and packing orders.
If you have sealed Magic product you’re looking to sell, I encourage you to reach out before listing it on a marketplace.
Selling through a major platform means dealing with fees, listings, buyers, shipping, and sometimes a fair amount of waiting. Instead, you can give me the opportunity to make you a direct offer.
If we agree on a price, I pay the shipping cost and provide a prepaid label.
You simply print the label, safely pack the product, and drop it off. That’s it.
I’m particularly interested in sealed booster boxes and cases that can help expand the selection available through CRG Games.
Looking Ahead
There’s still plenty I’d like to accomplish before the end of the year.
Expanding the booster pack selection remains the priority, along with improving the store experience and working through projects like the Chaos Draft Packs without losing sight of what CRG Games is supposed to be: a straightforward place to find a broad selection of sealed Magic booster packs at reasonable prices.
Thank you to everyone who placed an order in September, returned for another one, watched a video, sent feedback, or simply spent some time browsing the store.
I appreciate the continued support, and I’m looking forward to seeing what October brings.
PS: Let me know what you think of the minimalist website design when it launches. It gets right to the good stuff without any fluff!
